Bridgepoint Education Employee Volunteers Participate in Junior Achievement’s “Teach for a Day”
More than 49 “volunteachers” join 25 classes at Valley Elementary in Poway, Calif.

Forty-nine San Diego-based employees from Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) and its academic institution, Ashford University, partnered with Junior Achievement of San Diego County to deliver financial literacy knowledge to schoolchildren during a “JA Teach Day” event on May 24. The event, held at Valley Elementary School in Poway, Calif., was the latest in Bridgepoint’s efforts to give back to the community and encourage volunteerism.

“JA Teach Day” is a Junior Achievement-sponsored elementary school program designed to introduce adult thinking into young students’ education, giving them a taste of career interest, economics, on-the-job thinking and the activities involved in a day in the workplace. Bridgepoint and Ashford volunteers geared their instruction toward each grade level.

“Junior Achievement has enjoyed a robust partnership with Bridgepoint Education and Ashford University over the years,” said Jessica Saddler, education manager for Junior Achievement of San Diego County. “This partnership is very beneficial for the schools involved, as teachers don’t always have the time to teach these real-world concepts. Valuable lessons are taught to students about business, financial literacy and the world of work. As the volunteers teach the Junior Achievement curriculum, they are also infusing their own professional experiences.”

Bridgepoint and Ashford have supported Junior Achievement San Diego as part of the “JA Teach Day” event for the past nine years. To learn more about Junior Achievement of San Diego County, visit www.jasandiego.org.
