Bridgepoint Education Raises More Than $241,000 during United Way Campaign
Fundraising was part of a month-long 2016 United Way Camapaign
Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) focused its attention on raising money for charity as part of the company’s 2016 United Way Workplace Giving Campaign. By the end of the campaign, Bridgepoint Education and its employees generated $241,347 for United Way.
Funds were raised through several different initiatives at all Bridgepoint locations. Employees were asked to make a one-time donation, sign up to have a portion of their paychecks earmarked for United Way donations, or donate via a Give-A-Day option. With the Give-A-Day option, employees were able to donate hours from accrued vacation time in lieu of monetary contributions. In addition, fundraising events were held at each of Bridgepoint Education’s three locations in San Diego, Denver, and Clinton, Iowa.
As an extra incentive to encourage employees to donate, Bridgepoint Education pledged to match all employee donations for double the impact.
“Bridgepoint Education and its employees take pride in giving back to the community with the United Way campaign,” said Dr. Richard Pattenaude, Ashford University president emeritus and United Way campaign champion. “The strong response we received during the campaign is a great example of how much Bridgepoint employees care and support those in need.”
A unique feature of the United Way campaign is that a wide variety of local and national organizations benefit. Donors have the option to earmark their contribution to the 501(c)3 charity of choice through United Way. For example, when a donor gives $150 or more to United Way, he or she can designate any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to receive the donated money. This enables Bridgepoint Education employees to support numerous charitable organizations with their United Way donations.
