Bridgepoint also ranked first place in the Bike to Work Day Business Challenge

On June 22, 2016, more than 150 Denver-based Bridgepoint Education, Ashford University, and University of the Rockies employees participated in Denver’s Bike to Work Day.

Bridgepoint also ranked first in the Bike to Work Day Business Challenge large business category in the City and County of Denver, based on the total number of employee bike riders who participated. In addition, Bridgepoint finished first place among all institutions of higher education that competed in the Denver large business category including Denver University, Regis University, University of Colorado-Denver, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Bike to Work Day is an annual event designed to get people to utilize their bikes as a means for transportation, serving as a catalyst for them to use this alternative on a consistent basis in order to reduce congestion and improve air quality. The event represents a grassroots effort by cities, transportation planners, community organizations, and others across the state to educate commuters about the benefits of using bicycles to get to work.

“Bridgepoint Education supports its employees and the city of Denver in achieving good health and an environmentally-friendly community,” said Bridgepoint Education president and CEO Andrew Clark. “Bike to Work Day is an excellent event to support as it serves as a good opportunity for employees to stay fit, while at the same time, save money and reduce their carbon footprint in the environment.”

The city of Boulder, Colo. first celebrated Bike to Work Day more than 25 years ago. In 1995, the Denver Regional Council of Governments began helping the area’s cities and counties link their individual events together. Today, Bike to Work Day is celebrated in many communities in Colorado and throughout the nation.
