Baylor Bears to Face UCLA Bruins in 2012 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl
Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) will welcome the Baylor University Bears and the UCLA Bruins to San Diego for this month’s 35th annual Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl.
“We anticipate this is going to be one heck of a football game on December 27,” said John Wertz, president of the 2012 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl. “And it should be a great one for the San Diego community as well. We can’t wait to welcome Baylor and UCLA and their legions of fans to our great city later this month.”
This year’s Holiday Bowl – to be held at San Diego’s 70,000-plus seat Qualcomm Stadium –kicks off at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27. Bridgepoint Education will donate one dollar for every bowl game ticket sold to Rady Children’s Hospital - San Diego. The non-profit pediatric care facility is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated to pediatric healthcare and the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. Since opening in 1954, Rady Children’s Hospital has treated nearly two million sick and injured children.
The Baylor Bears, from Waco, TX, finished in a tie for 5th place in the Big 12 standings just a year after producing Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
The UCLA Bruins finished their season 9-4 and were winners of the Pac-12 Conference South Division. UCLA was beaten by Stanford 27-24 in the Pac-12 Championship game on Nov. 30.
