Bridgepoint Education Named One of San Diego's Healthiest Companies
Ranked fourth healthiest employer among large companies by San Diego Business Journal

Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) was named by San Diego Business Journal as the fourth healthiest large company in San Diego County in the second annual “San Diego’s Healthiest Companies” awards. Out of 55 finalists, 18 companies in four categories – small, medium, large, and large companies headquartered outside of San Diego – were named as honorees and recognized for developing strong workplace wellness programs and making wellness a priority for their employees.

“These institutions have confirmed the essential relationship between well-being and productivity. Today’s enlightened companies are embracing a more expansive approach to employee health. Their innovative wellness programs include comprehensive healthcare, holistic alternative medicines, fitness and life-affirming community service,” stated Randy Frisch, president and publisher of San Diego Business Journal, in his publisher/editor letter.

Bridgepoint Education is committed to the health of its employees by offering a multi-faceted wellness program that includes partnering with Cigna to focus on preventative care, disease management and an outreach program; maintaining a wellness committee that meets monthly to discuss challenges to motivate employees to become active, and incentivizing them with quarterly prizes; offering free, onsite fitness classes; and making additional information available on specific health topics each quarter. In determining the awards, San Diego Business Journal also focused on Bridgepoint Education’s commitment to the community and social responsibility efforts that feed the spirit as well as the body.

The nomination process was independent and consisted of answering more than 50 detailed survey questions online focusing on six key competencies of successful corporate wellness programs, including: leadership, culture and community; wellness operating plan, staff and budget; data collection and strategic planning; wellness communications and education; wellness programming, interventions and incentives; data management and evaluation. Answers were reviewed and voted on by a panel of judges.
