Ashford University Supports Wounded Warriors and Servicemembers' Families with Homers for Heroes
$2,500 per home run will be awarded to Operation Homefront-SoCal

Ashford University will donate $2,500 to the Southern California division of Operation Homefront for each home run hit by the San Diego Padres during this season’s Sunday home games. The Homers for Heroes program, done in conjunction with Cox Communications, will help underwrite the assistance Operation Homefront provides to servicemembers’ families and injured American soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors.

“On behalf of Operation Homefront Southern California, our men and women in uniform, our wounded warriors and their families, I am grateful for our newly formed Homers for Heroes partnership with Bridgepoint Education, Ashford University and Cox Communications,” said Col. Jay Anderson, USMC (retired), president of Operation Homefront - SoCal. “It is a visible way to show that the sacrifices of our military members and their families never go unnoticed in our community. In support of those who wear the cloth of our country, I sincerely thank you.”

Ashford University is an educational institution owned by Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI). The university’s support of Homers for Heroes is further representation of Ashford’s commitment to the San Diego community, and their charitable support of the U.S. military and its constituents.

Operation Homefront provides emergency financial aid to the families of American fighting men and women, and to America’s wounded warriors. They also work to fulfill non-monetary needs with the cooperation of affiliated organizations.

With the Homers for Heroes sponsorship, Ashford University joins other supporters of Operation Homefront, including Albertson’s, DLA Piper, the Land of the Free Foundation, Microsoft, the WD-40 company, Outback Steakhouse, San Diego’s Yard House, the Rancho Bernardo Inn, the Direct Employers Association, and Sean Combs.
