Ashford University's Degree in Cognitive Studies Offers Students an Understanding of the Mind
BA in Cognitive Studies delivers broad-based education in mental function

Ashford University's Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Studies can provide students an expansive education in the behavior of the human brain and its processes, including the workings of learning, problem solving and decision making. The degree is also specifically designed to provide a stepping stone for students with plans to pursue teaching and graduate degrees.

The faculty at Ashford University, an academic institution owned by Bridgepoint Education (NYSE: BPI), crafted the BA in Cognitive Studies to deliver a far-reaching education in cognitive function, inclusive of mental developmental disciplines and with overviews of specific age groups such as children and the elderly. In part, its creation was in response to an increase in studies of the human brain and modern science's improved capacity to examine the organ.

"The College of Education at Ashford University is pleased to expand our program offerings to include Cognitive Studies," said Dr. Rebecca Wardlow, executive dean of the College of Education. "We have learned so much about how people learn, remember new information and process new experiences, and this degree program will explore this new information and apply it to effective teaching and learning in all educational settings."

The broad appeal and interdisciplinary nature of Ashford's Cognitive Studies degree allows it to support a wide variety of careers in both the public and private sectors, including the fields of education, healthcare, social work, counseling, mental welfare and career services.

Ashford's Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Studies is currently available online. This degree does not lead to licensure or certification of any kind.
