Nebraska Cornhuskers to Face Washington Huskies in Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl

Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of postsecondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, will welcome the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers and the University of Washington Huskies to San Diego for this month’s 33rd annual Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl.

“It’s a great privilege to have Washington and Nebraska going head to head at the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl,” said Mark Neville, associate executive director of the 2010 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl. “These teams have an exciting history – San Diegans and national viewers are in for a spectacular game.”

This year’s Holiday Bowl kicks off at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30. One dollar from each ticket sold for the bowl game – to be held at San Diego’s 70,000-plus seat Qualcomm Stadium – will be donated to Promises2Kids. The local non-profit organization has been a champion of defending children against abuse for more than 30 years.

The 10-3 Cornhuskers will arrive in San Diego led by their punishing defense. The Blackshirts are nationally ranked in the top 10 for passing, scoring and total defense. Offensively, University of Nebraska’s top-10 running game has the potential to send a second and third running back (Rex Burkhead and Taylor Martinez) past 1,000 yards for the season during the Holiday Bowl. Teammate, Roy Helu Jr., already has over 1,200 yards.

University of Washington’s Huskies come to San Diego unranked but on a hot streak, winning their last three games behind NFL-bound quarterback Jake Locker and 1,200-plus yard rusher Chris Polk. The team will likely be hoping for a different result to their 56-21 loss against the ‘Huskers last September.
