Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of postsecondary education services focused on providing higher access to higher education, has announced that Dr. Wayne Clugston, a co-founder of Bridgepoint, has been chosen as the featured speaker for Ashford University’s graduation ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 11. The 10 a.m. ceremony will be held in the Durgin Educational Center, located on campus in Clinton, Iowa.
Clugston earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership at Seattle University after completing his MA in English at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his BA in English at Roberts Wesleyan College. He began his teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, taught at his undergraduate alma mater in Rochester, NY, and now occasionally teaches English literature, including literary studies abroad, at Ashford University.
Before becoming co-founder of Bridgepoint Education, Inc., Clugston was vice president of Academic Affairs at Spring Arbor University in Michigan and owner of an education company that developed and licensed curriculum widely used in adult degree-completion programs. As a consultant, he has interacted with educators in nine countries. He met his wife Linda in college; she also was an English major. They live in Seattle, WA and have two grown sons.
During the graduation ceremony, diplomas will be awarded and campus student awards will be presented. Following the ceremony, a reception will honor the graduates.
