Bridgepoint Education Announces Appointment of J. Joseph Hoey as Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation

Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), a provider of post-secondary education services focusing on higher access to higher education, has appointed Dr. J. Joseph Hoey, IV as the company's vice president of institutional effectiveness and accreditation.

Hoey will be responsible for assisting both Ashford University and University of the Rockies in overall institutional effectiveness and accreditation initiatives. He will work closely with university leadership to ensure compliance with all regional and specialized accreditation standards and the development of systems to support institutional effectiveness.

Prior to joining Bridgepoint Education, Hoey was the vice president of institutional effectiveness at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. With more than 20 years of experience, Hoey has held similar positions in assessment, evaluation, policy and survey research at Georgia Tech and North Carolina State University.

In addition to highly successful experience with regional and specialized accreditation reviews at multiple institutions, his accomplishments include developing and putting in place program review systems, a comprehensive model for institutional effectiveness, creating Institutional Review Councils and establishing MUSE (Measuring Unique Studies Effectively), the first of its kind conference in assessment of Art and Design disciplines.

Hoey obtained his Doctor of Education in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University. He also holds a master's degree from Florida State University and a bachelor's degree from University of California, San Diego, along with multiple certifications.

Adding to his repertoire, Hoey has authored a multitude of publications including book chapters, professional papers and magazine articles. He has been invited to address multiple national audiences on assessment practices and has held numerous presentations and workshops on the many facets of institutional effectiveness.
